BVW Round 5 - The Nacho Brothers' Vacation Adventure - Design Decisions
One of the very first decisions that was made for this experience was to make it about vacation worlds. We knew we wanted to tell the story of a machine that allowed for travel between virtual worlds, but we were not sure what those virtual worlds would be. We considered the possibility of traveling between movies, video game worlds and previous worlds from the BVW course, but finally decided on vacation worlds because they were simpler to recreate, and also a concept that mostly everybody can relate to.
As with all of the other BVW projects on this site, having the story make sense was a big part of this world. In this case, though, the experience was nearly done and we were still struggling with some story details, mainly the relationship between the two Nacho Bros. Deciding on a comedy theme cleared most of our problems for us, since it allowed us to introduce relatively absurd plot points, but still some details were proving elusive to justify. Finally, with the help of Jesse Schell and Brenda Harger we managed to get our backstory straight and come up with a convincing script.
