Written Work - Entertainment Technology Fundamentals
Entertainment Technology Fundamentals is a graduate course based on understanding the core aspects that constitute the base of entertainment. Students are required to express in writing their in-depth analyses of different experiences, with the goal of understanding better what it is that makes entertainment entertaining.
Below are links to the documents that were written for the course. All documents are in PDF format.
Adventure Module Report. During the course, the class is taken on a day-long trip to experience forms of entertainment that tend to induce adrenaline rushes. This report analyzes the experience and dissects it to understand its taxonomy.
Video Game Design Analysis. Each student is asked to choose two video games he or she has played and compare them from a design point of view, framing them in the concepts of Poetics. I attempted to analyze and compare The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Shadow of the Colossus from this point of view.
Entertainment Moments Analysis. For the final assignment, we are asked to elaborate on moments from the entertainment industry that have meant something special for us. This document analyzes three such moments, attempting to both describe them and pinpoint what makes them special.
