Balloon Man - 2009 IGDA Global Game Jam
Balloon Man was designed and developed in 48 hours by a team of 5 people. All of us participated in the design process and were very pleasantly surprised to find out where the game took us. We started with a vertical scroller concept of dodging obstacles and ended up doing mostly that, but in a more artistic way than what we thought we would. A the end, the game (or experience) resonated deeply with all of us, even with all the bugs it is surely ridden with.
The team that created Balloon Man is living proof of what can be done when all team members are committed to the project: we developed the experience without having an experienced flash programmer or artist. Even so, we got our point across.
The game is presented here in the same state that it was after the 48 hours had passed. It has bugs. It is not perfect. Bur we like it that way.
I was responsible for background art during game development. These are the pieces I created.
